"Can't Cut" List for Fantasy Baseball
Description
This article:
- Explains the purpose for the Can't Cut List
- Lists players on the Can't Cut List and players who have been removed from it
- Explains how the Can't Cut List can be removed in Private Leagues
Resolution
The Can't Cut List is comprised of the game's best players. When a player is on the list, he cannot be waived from a team under any circumstances.
You can view the list of players currently on the Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball Can't Cut List via the Can't Cut List page.
The list is one of several safeguards Yahoo! Sports has put in place to prevent managers from negatively impacting fair play by dumping quality players into the available player pool.
Yahoo! Sports reviews the Can't Cut List on a daily basis, and we review all customer recommendations about adding or removing players from the list.
If an underachieving player remains on the list, it's because our experts feel his long-term value exceeds that of any player at their position who might be available on the Free Agents list.
Injured players are not automatically removed from the Can't Cut List. Consideration is given to the length of time that a player is expected to miss and the player's projected value upon their return.
Players may be added or removed from the list at any time by Yahoo! Sports. However, we cannot comment on any possible actions that may be taken in the future.
Private Leagues
The Can't Cut List is based on the 12-team standard public league. If you are in a private league with a smaller number of teams, you may consider petitioning your Commissioner to disable this feature.
In private leagues, the Commissioner can follow these steps to disable the Can't Cut List:
- Click the Commish Tools tab.
- Click Edit League Settings.
- Change "Can't Cut list provider" to None.
Please see the list below for the current players on the Can't Cut List as well as any recent actions.

Players will be removed if injury or performance issues cause their value to drop below that of the top players at their position. If an underachieving player remains on the list, it is because the league office feels his long-term value exceeds that of any player who might be available on the free agents list.
Injured players are not automatically removed from the Can't Cut List. Consideration is given to the length of time that a player is expected to miss and the player's projected value upon their return.
Custom League commissioners cannot manually adjust the Can't Cut List. However, if a Custom League should later decide to add or drop this feature, the commissioner can make this change through Commissioner Tools.
In addition, while Custom League Commissioners cannot manually adjust the Can't Cut List, they can remove players currently on the list from their current team via the "Edit Rosters" tool found among their Commish Tools. Players dropped in this fashion will go immediately to free agency and will not be placed on waivers.
Please note: If you would still like to voice your opinion on a particular player, feel free to provide feedback to Yahoo! Sports directly.
