How can I add to a friend's conversation?

Description

This article describes how you can post a message to a conversation.

Resolution

If you have received an email from a friend about an article and want to add to the conversation, click the link in the email to go to the article on Yahoo!. If you are not signed in to Yahoo!, you will see your friend's picture on the article page; however, you will not be able to read or reply to their comments until you sign in. Click the Sign in to Yahoo! button to sign in to your account. Once signed in, you will see your friend's picture along with their comments about the article in the "Conversations" tab.

Note: If you are not able to see your friend's conversation, you may need to switch from the Activity tab to the Conversations tab. To do this, click the button with the speech bubble icon on the upper-right of the "Activity" tab. You can return to the Activity tab by clicking the button with the people icon on the upper-right of the "Conversations" tab.

The participants in the conversation are listed at the top of the "Conversations" tab. Clicking the Show More button at the bottom of the comments will expand the "Conversations" tab to show all comments from all participants. You can collapse the tab by clicking Show Less. If part of a comment is hidden because it's too long, you can see the full text by clicking the More... button to the right of the comment.

If you have multiple friends who have invited you to a conversation about a particular article, you can use the arrow buttons on the upper-right of the "Conversations" tab to switch between conversations. Once you have read the article, we encourage you to contribute your own thoughts.

To add a comment to the conversation:

  1. Click the Show more button to expand the Conversations tab (if you have not already done so).
  2. Enter your comments in the What do you think? section at the bottom of the tab.
  3. Click Post.

The participants of the conversation will receive an email notification alerting them to your comment.
