Description
This article is intended for cases where the user is experiencing issues with Google Chrome while using a Yahoo!7 site. This article is just specific to issues with Google Chrome.
Resolution
This article will help you solve issues with Google Chrome while using a Yahoo!7 site.
These are the troubleshooting steps that you can try from your computer:
Disable Internet Browser Add-ons/Plug-ins:
- Each Internet browser comes with optional upgrades or enhancements commonly known as "add-ons" or "plug-ins." These features make your Internet browser more useful; and certain add-ons or plug-ins can potentially cause issues with Yahoo!7 Mail.
- To find out if this is the case, please try one of the following tasks for your specific browser: common uses include (but aren't limited to) Toolbars; News or Stock Tickers; Instant Messaging; Weather alerts; Email alerts; Antivirus/Anti-Spy; or Games.
If you're running Chrome:
- Launch Google Chrome from Start/Run with the parameter -disable-plugins
- For example, in Vista: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe -disable-plugins (Please substitute your Windiws profile name for '%username%')
Clearing Your Cookies and Cache:
- We've found that clearing your cookies and cache usually takes care of a lot of issues. When you need to clear your cache, follow the instructions below:
- Select the Tools menu. Look for the wrench icon at the upper-right corner.
- Select Clear browsing data.
- Select the checkboxes for these types of information you wish to remove:
- Empty the cache
- Delete cookies
- Use the Clear data from this period pull-down menu to select how much of your information you want to delete. By default, Google Chrome only clears information collected in the last 24 hours. To clear browsing information from a longer period of time, select another option in the pull-down menu. To wipe out all data, select the Everything option.
- Click the Clear Browsing Data button.
Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Antispy and Firewall Products
Maybe one of your security applications, such as your antivirus, antispyware, or firewall products, is causing a problem . To see if this is the problem, please temporarily disable your security software to see if the issue goes away.
- For most security software products, you can right-click the security software icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen by the system clock. This will usually pop up a menu with Preferences or disable as an option.
- Try to change one of those options to see if the issue goes away.
NOTE: In some cases, you might not be able to completely disable the security software. The directions for each security software package differ from vendor to vendor. If you need help, please get in touch with your security software vendor or computer Help desk.
