How to protect yourself from harassment in Yahoo! Messenger for the iPhone

Resolution

There are a few steps that you can take in order to protect yourself from harassment when using Yahoo! Messenger for the iPhone.

First, if you feel threatened by the person harassing you, we suggest you contact your local law enforcement immediately and explain the situation to them. You should be able to find the phone number for your local law enforcement agency (be that a Police or Sheriff Department) in your local phone book or by using Yahoo! Directory Search.

Second, we suggest putting the person harassing you on your ignore list. To do this, please follow the instructions listed below:

  1. Go to Settings in the Yahoo! Messenger iPhone app.
  2. Select Privacy under the Options section.
  3. Switch Ignore Non-Contacts to On

If you are in the conversation you can follow these steps:

  1. Scroll to the top of the conversation.
  2. Select Report Spam.
  3. Select Ignore User.

If the person is on your contact list you will need to remove them from your contacts before you can add them to your ignore list.
