This article describes the steps to take if Webcam:

• Image is inverted
• Color is off
• Image quality is poor

If you're having trouble with the picture from your webcam device, whether the color is off, image is inverted, or quality is poor, you may need to adjust the webcam display preferences through Yahoo! Messenger.

By default, the preferences for your webcam don't allow you to choose the source of the webcam until the webcam device is activated. This means if you attempt to access the webcam preferences through the Yahoo! Messenger Preferences window, without activating your webcam device, all options will be grayed out and unavailable.

To access the webcam preferences:

1. Click the Messenger menu in Messenger and select My Webcam
2. Click the File menu in the My Webcam window and click Preferences
3. Click Camera Settings
4. Adjust the camera settings you want to modify and click OK to save those preferences
5. Click OK to close the Yahoo! Messenger Preferences window

Note: The camera setting controls are read from the device drivers installed for your webcam device and may vary depending on the Manufacturer and Model of your webcam device. You should reference your webcam documentation prior to making adjustments which could cause your webcam device to no longer function properly.

If you can't locate certain settings, such as an invert or mirror setting, you may want to reinstall your webcam device drivers to ensure that your computer and Yahoo! Messenger are able to properly communicate with your device.
