Here is some information to help you get started using Yahoo! Messenger:

  1. Download Yahoo! Messenger:

  3. Add contacts to Messenger list:
    • To learn how you to add contacts to Yahoo! Messenger, see our help page about adding a contact to your Messenger List.
      - Note: The contact is automatically notified and given the option to allow or deny your add request.
      - If they deny your request, they won't appear in your Messenger List.
  4. Send an Instant Message:

Additional Information

Information about exactly what your Yahoo! ID is, and which ID to share with friends to let them add your name in their Messenger List:

  • Your Yahoo! ID is the same ID which you selected at the time of registration of your Yahoo! account.
  • For example: For the email address free2rhyme@yahoo.com, "free2rhyme" is the Yahoo! ID.
  • However, feel free to share your complete email address with your friends.
  • Your friends would need to use it in order to add your name in their Messenger contacts.
  • Note: Make sure to share the complete email address with your friends if you have a "ymail.com" or "rocketmail.com" account, or if are using a partner account like:
    - free2rhyme@sbcglobal.net
    - free2rhyme@att.net
    - free2rhyme@btinternet.com
