Imported archives are mangled or garbled in the Conversation History

Description

This article explains how to fix scrambled archives after importing them to the Conversation History in Yahoo! Messenger.


Resolution

We are planning on releasing a fix early this summer that will prevent this issue. You can follow the steps below to repair the damaged archives.

  1. Exit Yahoo! Messenger. In the notification area located next to the clock at the bottom-right corner of your screen, right-click the Yahoo! Messenger smiley icon, then select Exit.
  2. Make sure the local archives still exist by checking the Profiles folder.
  3. Clean up garbled archives:

a. Sign in to Yahoo! Mail.
b. Click the Conversations folder in the left column.
c. Locate the garbled conversations and delete them.

  1. Delete the migration flag files and import your archives again.

Note: On the sign in screen, input your Yahoo! ID using lower case.
