Using the Contact Card to See Updates from Your Friends

 This document explains how to use your contact card to see your friends' updates.


Resolution

The Contact Card contains information about the various ways to contact your friends along with a listing of their latest Yahoo! Updates.

To see a Contact Card, click your friend's display image in the Detailed List view of your Messenger List.

  • The upper part of the Contact Card lists your friend's Yahoo! ID and shows you a variety of ways to contact them (PC-to-PC call, text message, "Call Work," "Send Email," etc.).
  • The lower part of the Contact Card shows you what this person's been up to recently via Yahoo! Updates. (If they've made their activity public.) For example, if they recently wrote a review of a restaurant or a movie, you'll see the first part of it here, along with a link to the rest of the review.

  • The upper part of your Contact Card has links to where you can manage your Yahoo! information, such as your display image, contact details, your profile, account information, and your Yahoo! Updates. Click Manage My Updates to adjust what you'd like others to see.
  • The lower part of the Contact Card shows the Yahoo! Updates you've broadcast recently.

There are two views of the Messenger List, the Detailed List view and the Compact List view. Detailed List is the default view.

To see the Compact List view:

  1. Click the Contacts menu.
  2. Select Compact List and the Messenger List will compact.

To see a Contact Card from the Compact List view:

  • Move your pointer over your friend's name and their Contact Card will open.

To see the Detailed List view:

  1. Click the Contacts menu.
  2. Select Detailed List and the Messenger List will expand.
