Can't add or delete contacts
Description
Help for resolving issues that you may be experiencing when you are unable to add or remove contacts from your Messenger List for the version of Yahoo! Messenger installed on your computer.
Error: "Your request to add a contact has taken longer than expected to complete."
Resolution
Troubleshooting:
- Perform some basic troubleshooting steps covered in our Messenger troubleshooting procedures help article.
- Test to see if the issue is resolved.
- If it persists, go to the next step. - Follow the steps in our help article about resetting your connection settings.
Workaround:
You can use Contacts in Yahoo! Mail to add and delete contacts.
- To add a contact, choose the link to see instructions for your version of Mail:
- Yahoo! Mail
- Yahoo! Mail Classic - To delete a contact, choose the link to see instructions for your version of Mail:
- Yahoo! Mail
- Yahoo! Mail Classic
You can also add a contact using Messenger in Mail:
- Choose the link to see instructions for your version of Mail:
- Yahoo! Mail
- Yahoo! Mail Classic
Note: To use Yahoo! Mail, you will need to sign out of Yahoo! Messenger on your computer or device, then sign in to Yahoo! Mail.
Additional Information
- When you delete someone from your Messenger List, you will still remain on their Messenger List.
- For pending add requests, delete and re-add the contact from your Messenger List with Yahoo! Messenger in Mail.
