ID: SLN1025

Resolution

Yahoo! offers a wide variety of Updates from non-Yahoo! sites that you can share with your connections, such the video you view on YouTube or the blog you post on Blogger.

To share non-Yahoo! Updates:

  1. Go to your Yahoo! Profile.
  2. Click Share More in the My Updates module.

The page displays a list of all the non-Yahoo! Updates available for sharing.

  3. Specify your user name for each site that you want to share Updates from.
    • If you use the same user name for most online accounts:
      1. Type your name in the Username box at the top of the page (in the yellow band), and then click Find Sites.

Yahoo! returns all sites (from the list on the page) that have this user name.

      2. To confirm that this is your account on a site, click Check to ensure this is your site.
      3. Click Add next to each site you want to share Updates from.
    • If you use different user names for different sites:
      1. Click the name of the site you want to share.
      2. Type your name in the User Name box that opens to the right of the site's name.
      3. Click Add.

The sites you currently share Updates from appear at the top of the page and on your Manage My Updates tab where you can specify who you want to share each site's Updates with—Anyone, My Connections, or No One.

Notes:

  • By default, anyone can see your Updates from a non-Yahoo! site because this is public data from a public RSS feed. On the Manage My Updates tab, you'll see that Anyone is the selected sharing option. You can limit sharing by selecting My Connections, or No One from the pull-down menu.
• Be sure to properly set your sharing options on the external site as well (if the site has sharing options). If you've set your external site to a "private" setting, it is likely that Yahoo! won't be able to share Updates from that site, no matter what setting you specify on Yahoo!.
