Discontinuation of MSN Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail interoperability with Yahoo! Messenger
Resolution
Yahoo! Messenger no longer works with MSN Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail IDs.
Impact: Yahoo! Messenger users will see their MSN Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail contacts disabled.
MSN Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail users:
- Get Yahoo! Messenger: If you would like to start instant messaging (IMing) with Yahoo! Messenger, please download the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger.

- Another Yahoo! IMing option - IM from Yahoo! Mail: You can also IM using Messenger in Mail from Yahoo! Mail with no download required.
- To learn how to use it, see our help article about using Messenger in Mail. - Get a Yahoo! account: Go to the Yahoo! Registration page and follow the prompts to set up a new Yahoo! account.
- MSN Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail interoperability was discontinued on December 14, 2012.
