CAPTCHA verification required on a Mobile device

ID: SLN6042
Refers to: Yahoo! Account , Mobile Mail , Mobile

Description

This article helps to explain why you may be asked to verify a CAPTCHA image before logging in to your Yahoo! accounts with your mobile device.

Resolution

Yahoo! accounts implement a verification system known as CAPTCHA. This is designed to assure that certain tasks were performed by a human, rather than generated by a computer. If you are being asked for CAPTCHA when signing in to your account via a Mobile device is likely for one or more of the following reasons:

  • Your account has five or more failed password entries
  • You are accessing your account from a new mobile device and an unrecognized country

In order to protect your account, we will prompt you to verify the CAPTCHA code for either of these reasons. If you are unable to see the CAPTCHA image on your phone, we may prompt you to sign in on your computer to verify CAPTCHA. Once verified, you should be able to sign into your account on your Mobile device.
