Troubleshooting your password on a mobile device

Resolution

Here are some suggestions to try if you are having trouble signing in to Yahoo! on your mobile device:

  1. Please start by turning your phone off. Once the phone is completely powered down, remove the battery (if applicable) and then plug it back in. Now, reboot the phone.
  2. Try signing in to our new Mobile homepage (via your desktop) at:  http://m.yahoo.com/

If you are able to sign in with the same password that you are using on your mobile device, then this eliminates the possibility of there being an issue with your password.

  1. If your device capitalizes the first letter automatically, this is most likely what is causing the login trouble you are experiencing. You should be able to resolve that problem by replacing the first letter that is capitalized with a lowercase letter.
  2. At times, mobile devices can experience compatibility limits with passwords that contain special characters. If your password contains any special characters and you are unable to log in through your mobile device, you can always sign in to a desktop computer and change your Yahoo! password to something that is compatible.
  3. If your phone's browser allows saving browser cookies and cache, please clear these on your device. Please check your phone's operation manual to get the exact steps to perform this function as steps vary between phones and phone browser applications.

Note: Some phones have a slight delay when entering text, and you do not have to include the "@yahoo.com" as part of your Yahoo! ID.

If the suggestions above do not resolve your sign-in issue, please try changing your password from a desktop computer using our Password Helper Wizard.
