Description

In this article you'll find all the steps for configuring your mobile device to use Yahoo! Mail.

Resolution

One look and you'll see why Yahoo! Mail is the number one email program for millions of Web and mobile users! And best of all: there's no set-up required on any Internet-enabled phone. For the best Mail experience on your mobile device, visit Yahoo! Mail at:

http://mobile.yahoo.com/mail

In the upper-right corner enter your phone number and click Send a link to my phone.

You can also type this Web address directly into your device's mobile Web browser:

http://m.yahoo.com/mail

This will give you all your favorite Yahoo! Mail features, such as sending emails, receiving emails, searching emails, viewing attachments, updating contacts, and managing email folders. Simply sign in and get your email. Everything you do on your phone is automatically reflected on your desktop.

Downloading Opera Mini

Try downloading Opera Mini to your mobile phone. Opera Mini enables you to take your full Web experience to your phone. Using your current mobile phone browser, enter:

mini.opera.com/yahoo

Follow the downloading instructions. Once this is completed and you launch the Opera Mini browser, you will see the Yahoo! symbol in the bookmarked section. Simply click the Yahoo! link, and you will connect with the new Yahoo! Mobile front page.

Setting up Yahoo! Mail from the Phone Client using IMAP

Most phone browsers available today are ready to use Yahoo! Mail via IMAP. To set up IMAP on your mobile device, please use the following settings:

  • Incoming Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
  • Outgoing Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Incoming Port: 993 (requires SSL)
  • Outgoing Port: 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
  • User name: full email address (for example, bill@yahoo.com or bill@rocketmail.com)
  • Password: the password you log in to Yahoo! with.

Note: Because of the wide variety of phones, we can't provide the exact details for each one. If you are having trouble setting up IMAP on your mobile device, we would recommend reviewing your phones instruction manual or contacting your mobile provider.

Requesting POP Settings

Please note: this feature is available only to Mail Plus subscribers. For more information on Mail Plus, please visit this webpage.

Click here and follow the set up instructions.

Or, reference the settings below:

  • Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • Account Name/Login Name: your Yahoo! ID, which is your Yahoo! Mail address without the @yahoo.com
  • Email address (for example, user@yahoo.com)
  • Password: your Yahoo! Mail password

Note: Yahoo! does not charge you for using Yahoo! Mobile; however, your wireless carrier may have charges associated with this service.
