Blocking messages from an email address or domain
Description
If you don't want to receive email from a certain email address or domain, you can block the address in Yahoo! Mail. Email messages sent from a blocked address are automatically deleted without bouncing back to the sender.
Note: You must use a PC or Mac to block addresses in Yahoo! Mail.
Resolution
- In Yahoo! Mail, note the email address or domain that you want to block.
Tips for blocking Spam:
- Sometimes it's difficult to tell what the actual email address is when the message is coming from a spammer. One way to identify the sender without opening the message is to place the cursor over the sender's name in your mail folder. The real email address should appear in a tool tip.

A. The sender's name
B. The real email address
- You might also find that you continue to get the same type of spam messages even though you've blocked the sender. Some spammers use different names with the same domain, such as walmir.a.b@uol.com.br and jkdet.c.b@uol.com.br. When this happens, you should block the domain and not a specific email address, in our example, you would block uol.com.br. Unfortunately, not all spammers are predictable in how they create their addresses, so this suggestion doesn't guarantee that you won't continue receiving spam.

- In the Add an address box (in Mail Classic, Add a Blocked address), type the email address or domain that you want to block.
- Click the "+" button to the right of the box (in Mail Classic, click Add).

The address or domain is added to your list of blocked addresses, and you should no longer receive email from that address.
You can block up to 500 email addresses and domains. You can see how many you've blocked on the left side of the list, for example, "3 of 500 used."
