Description

How to tell if an email in your Yahoo! Mail is from Yahoo!.

Resolution

To tell if an email is truly from Yahoo!:

  1. Sign in to Yahoo! Mail.
  2. Verify that the Yahoo! icon appears to the left of the sender address in your inbox. Any email Yahoo! sends to your Yahoo! Mail account will always have our purple "Y!" icon next to it.

Special icon in Yahoo! Mail indicating the email is from Yahoo!

Note: The "Y!" icon will not appear in Outlook, Mac Mail or other email clients and services. To verify an email is from Yahoo!, always sign in your Yahoo! Mail account online and look for the "Y!" icon to the left of the email in your inbox.
  3. Watch for unusual requests. Yahoo! will never request your username or password in an email. If you receive a request for that information, please report it to us by using the spam button in your inbox.
    • By marking it as spam, you will help us to quickly identify and remove unsolicited messages.
