Signing in to Mail Chat while signed in to Messenger 11 or 11.5
Description
Learn how to log in and out of the Yahoo! Messenger client and the chat module within Yahoo! Mail, also called "Yahoo! Messenger in Mail."
Resolution
You can run into a conflict between the Messenger client and the Yahoo! Mail chat module, called "Yahoo! Messenger in Mail." The Messenger client is the version of Messenger installed on your computer (or "machine"). Yahoo! Mail is Web-based, and it will detect that you are signed in on the client version and automatically sign that version out. You can override that manually in Yahoo! Mail. Please review the information below about how the Messenger client and the Yahoo! Mail chat module work with each other.
How Messenger and the Yahoo! Mail chat module work with each other:
- If you are signed in to Messenger and then you open your Yahoo! Mail account on the same machine, Yahoo! Mail will detect that Messenger is running, and it won't automatically load the Yahoo! Mail chat module.
- However, if Yahoo! Mail is opened on a different machine, the Yahoo! Mail chat module will load. Yahoo! Mail will then sign you out of the Messenger client on the other machine.
- You can also manually choose to open the chat module within your Yahoo! Mail account, which will also cause you to be signed out of the Messenger client.
