Subscribing to another calendar
Resolution
Learn to subscribe to other people's shared and ".ics" iCalendar format calendars along with a variety of shared international holiday calendars provided by Yahoo! Calendar. You can subscribe to the calendar of other Yahoo! Calendar users or those of many other providers.
Choose a subscribing method:
- When subscribing to someone else's calendar:
- You can add their calendar to your Yahoo! Calendar using one of these methods.
- Use method A when another Yahoo! user has publicly shared their Yahoo! Calendar: You will need the Yahoo! user's Yahoo! email address and their calendar must already be made public.
- Use method B when another Yahoo! user has shared their calendar with you: You must have received a notification email saying that your friend has shared a calendar with you.
- Use method C for a calendaring system outside of Yahoo!: You will need the calendar's Web address (or "URL") that is an ".ics" iCalendar link. - Their calendar will then be added as a new calendar to your Yahoo! Calendar.
- You can add their calendar to your Yahoo! Calendar using one of these methods.
- Use Method D to subscribe to holidays and important dates:
- You can subscribe to a variety of shared international calendars provided by Yahoo! Calendar.
Method A: Subscribing to another Yahoo! user's calendar that is publically shared:
- Go to Yahoo! Mail and click the Calendar tab.
- Click the + (plus sign) next to "Subscribed" in the left column.
- The Subscribe to calendar window opens. - Click Add a friend's calendar.
- The Add a friend's calendar window opens. - Type your friend's Yahoo! email address in the Yahoo! Email address box.
- Note: Your friend must use Yahoo! Calendar and have already set their Yahoo! Calendar as public.

- Name the calendar and choose a color.
- Click Save.
- The calendar will now be added to your list.
Method B: Subscribing to another Yahoo! user's calendar who has shared their calendar with you:
- Go to your inbox in Yahoo! Mail.
- Open the message that says your friend has shared a calendar with you in the subject line.
- Note: Your friend must use Yahoo! Calendar and have shared their calendar with you.
- To learn more, see our help article about sharing calendars. - Click the Add this calendar link in the email message.
- The Add a friend's calendar window opens in Yahoo! Calendar. - Name the calendar and choose a color.
- Click Save.
- The calendar will now be added to your list.
Method C: Subscribing to someone's calendar outside of Yahoo! (with an .ics link):
Follow these instructions if you receive a Web address (or "URL") that contains ".ics".
- An example of a ".ics" Web address: "http://calendars.org/johndoe/12345/work.ics".
- Copy the entire Web address you received.
- In your Yahoo! Calendar, click the + (plus sign) next to "Subscribed" in the left column.
- The Subscribe to calendar window opens. - Click Subscribe to other calendars.
- The Subscribe to other calendars window opens. - Paste the Web address into the iCal Address box.
- Name the calendar, choose a color, and set any reminders settings that you prefer.
- Click Continue.
- The calendar is then added under "Subscribed" in the left column.
Method D: Subscribing to holidays and important dates:
- Go to Yahoo! Mail and click the Calendar tab.
- Click the + (plus sign) next to "Subscribed" in the left column.
- The Subscribe to calendar window opens. - Click Add holidays.
- The Add Holidays window opens. - Choose a calendar from the Country or Category menu.
- Name the calendar and choose a color.
- Click Save.
- The events will then be added to their appropriate dates throughout the year.
Additional Information
- To remove a subscribed calendar:
- Move your mouse cursor over the subscribed calendar you want to remove.
- Click the down arrow and select Unsubscribe.
