Description
This article explains how to set language encoding to enable viewing content that uses a different character set.
Resolution
Please note: Changing encoding allows you to view an email that is sent in a language that is not displaying correctly because it uses a different set of characters. It does not translate the email from one language to another.
In Yahoo! Mail, you can choose the type of character encoding you want. Here’s how:
- In the toolbar that appears above the message, click on the gear icon on the far right, and then select Language Encoding from the pull down menu.
- From the list that appears, select the encoding that matches the email's content.
Please note: You can view your email using only one character encoding set at a time. Changing your browser’s encoding setting does not affect the character encoding used within Yahoo! Mail.
