Instructions for seting up Yahoo! Mail to send and receive email from within Windows Live Mail.

How to set up your Yahoo! Mail account in Windows Live Mail:

1. Open Windows Live Mail.
2. Select Add e-mail account in the left side of Windows Live Mail.
   - "Add e-mail account" opens.
3. Do the following for these required email account items in Add e-mail account:
   • E-mail address: Type your full Yahoo! Mail email address in the following format: user@yahoo.com
     - For example: jo.bloggs@yahoo.com
   • Password: Type your Yahoo! Mail password.
     - Note: It's safe to give your password to Windows Live Mail.
   • Remember password (optional): Clear this check box if you don't want your Yahoo! Mail password retained.
   • Display Name: Type a name you want to show as the sender.
   • Manually configure server settings for e-mail account: Check the check box for this item.
4. Select Next.
5. Do the following for the required "Incoming Server Information" items in Add e-mail account:
   - Add an E-mail Account: Shows server information to link Windows Live Mail and your Yahoo! Mail account.
   - This allows Windows Live Mail to receive and send your e-mails.
   • My incoming mail server: Choose POP3.
   • Incoming server: Type pop.mail.yahoo.com
   • Port: Type 995
   • This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Check the check box for this item.
   • Log on using: Leave the setting at Clear text authentication.
   • Login ID (if different from e-mail address): Type your Yahoo! Mail user name (the part before: @yahoo.com).
     - For example: jo.bloggs
6. Do the following for the required "Outgoing Server Information" items in Add e-mail account:
   • Outgoing server: Type smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
   • Port: Type 465 
   • This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Check the check box for this item.
   • My outgoing server requires authentication: Check the check box for this item.
   • Select Next.
     - On successful connection from Windows Live Mail to the Yahoo! Mail servers: "Add an E-mail Account" displays, "You have successfully entered in the information required to set up your account."
     - To set the Yahoo! Mail account as the default account if you have multiple accounts: Select Set this account as the default mail account.
   • Select Finish.
