Troubleshooting tip - changing the port:
If you still can't send Yahoo! Mail from Thunderbird, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, follow the steps below to try using port 587 when sending email via the Yahoo! SMTP server.
- Select the Tools menu | Account Settings.
- The "Account Settings" window opens. - Scroll down to the bottom of the left column and select Outgoing Server (SMTP).
- In the right half of the pane, select the Yahoo! Mail SMTP server.
- Select Edit.
- The "SMTP Server" window opens. - Under "Settings," change the Port value to 587.
- Select OK to save your changes.
