Why did the design of Yahoo! Mail change?

We’re constantly striving to offer our customers the latest and best technologies and services, and that means refreshing the design occasionally. What you see today is our cleanest, most intuitive version of Yahoo! Mail to date. We have phased out the design of Yahoo! Mail that you previously used, so it not possible to switch to a previous version.
