Receiving an indecent content response
Description
Learn about precautions for shared photos (or "images") and "blind" invites. In addition, access information about protecting yourself from unwanted contacts by blocking other Messenger users from spam.
Resolution
Listed are the precautions that you can take before accepting shared photos and invites. Using PC or Mac versions of Messenger when deleting a contact and adding them in Ignore List is recommended.
To protect yourself:
- Don't trust strangers - Accept shared photos or invites only from trusted people. Accepting "blind" invites from strangers attracts this type of abusive behavior.
- Report the abusive photo - Report the inappropriate shared photo you received directly using the photo sharing window by clicking Tools | Report Abuse.
- Add the person on your Ignore List - You can block the offending person using Messenger in Mail, or add them on your Ignore List using:
- Messenger on your PC
- Messenger on your Mac
- Messenger in Mail
Note: If you're not able to see the settings option you need in Messenger in Mail, we recommend using the PC or Mac versions of Messenger. You can download the PC or Mac version of Messenger since it offers more protection settings option than Yahoo! Messenger in Mail.
- Report someone to local law enforcement - Contact your local law enforcement agency should you or someone else feel threatened or in danger. You should find your local law enforcement agency using your local phonebook or by using Yahoo! Directory Search.
