Description

This article provides steps for restoring a compromised Yahoo! account to its previous state:

  • Restoring missing email.
  • Restoring missing Contacts.
  • Correcting your signature, "From" name, "Reply-to" address, and mail forwarding.

If your email account has been compromised, please take steps to secure your account prior to performing these restoration steps.


Resolution

Restoring email messages:

If the contents of your mail were deleted in the last 24 hours and you would like them restored, complete the form. Note: We will do everything in our power to restore your messages, but recovery is not guaranteed. Your chances of recovering your email increase by completing and submitting this email restoration form as soon as possible.

Restoring your Contacts:

We have found that some users that have experienced this type of issue might have also had their Yahoo! Address Book deleted. If you need to restore your Yahoo! Address Book, please fill out this contacts restoration form and one of our Yahoo! Address Book staff will be happy to assist you with restoring your Yahoo! Address Book.

Correcting your Signature, "From" name, "Reply-to" address, and Mail forwarding:

To make sure your mail has not been diverted, we recommend that you verify and correct your Yahoo! Mail Account settings to make sure they are accurate. The means to correct these may vary depending on the version of Yahoo! Mail that you are currently using.
