Troubleshooting the Yahoo! Mail app for Android

Check the Android OS (Operating System) version:

  • Check for an update -- An operating system update may resolve your issue. Be sure that your device is using the most current version of Android.
    --Contact your mobile carrier for further assistance with operating system updates.
  • Versions supported -- The Yahoo! Mail Android App supports devices running Android OS 2.1 (Eclair) and higher.

Check the system clock:

  • If the time on your device is not correct, it can interfere with some of the app features.
  • Try resetting the time, then restart your device and attempt to reproduce the issue.

Clear corrupted account settings on your device:

You may need to remove, then re-add your Yahoo! Mail account to your device if they have become corrupted.

To remove an account:

  1. Launch the Yahoo! Mail app for Android.
  2. Tap Menu in the top left.
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Check the box for the account you want to remove.
  5. Tap the Trash Can icon.
  6. Tap Delete.

To add an account:

  1. Launch the Yahoo! Mail app for Android.
  2. Enter your Yahoo! ID and password.
  3. Tap Add Account.
    Note: If you are not prompted to enter your login information, use the following steps:
  4. Tap Menu in the top left.
  5. Select Accounts.
  6. Enter your Yahoo! ID and password.
  7. Tap Sign In.

Once your account has been re-added to the application, attempt to reproduce the issue.

Remove corrupted installation:

If the issue persists, it is possible that the Yahoo! Mail app for Android has become corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.

To uninstall the Yahoo! Mail app for Android:

  1. Tap the Apps tab at the bottom of your Android device's "Home" screen.
  2. Tap Settings on the "Apps" screen.
  3. Tap Applications on the "Settings" screen.
  4. Tap Manage Applications on the "Application Settings" screen.
  5. Tap Yahoo! Mail on the "Manage Applications" screen.
  6. Tap Uninstall on the "Application Info" screen.
  7. Tap OK to confirm.

To reinstall the Yahoo! Mail app for Android:

  1. Tap the Google Play app on your Android device.
  2. Tap Search and enter "Yahoo! Mail"
  3. Tap Yahoo! Mail (from Yahoo! Inc).
  4. Tap Download, then follow the installation instructions. 

Once the Yahoo! Mail app for Android and your account have been re-added, attempt to reproduce the issue.
