What to do if you are seeing inappropriate messages or attachments in your group
Resolution
As a group owner or moderator, there are three ways that you can address inappropriate messages:
Suspend the user from chat room:
This action will lock a user out of the chat room for two hours. To suspend a user, move your cursor over the user's name in the chat window. In the menu that appears, select "Suspend user from chat." Please note that the suspension is temporary and the user's access to Chat will be automatically restored after two hours.
Remove the user from the group:
This will remove the user from the chat room permanently, as long as the person doesn't rejoin the group.
- To remove the user from the groups, visit this help page for changing a group member's status.
- If you need to ban a user from a group (i.e., permanently block them from the group), visit our help page on banning users.
Report abuse to Yahoo!'s Customer Care team:
To do this, click the flag icon that appears when you roll your mouse over the offensive message (alternatively, you can move your cursor over the user's name, and select "Flag Abuse" from the options that appear). A form will appear that prompts you to describe the situation. If the messages the user is posting violate Yahoo!'s Terms of Service, the user's Yahoo! account could be suspended.
