Description

This article should assist you with ensuring that your browser settings are set to accept cookies, and allow more efficient loading of your Safari Browser.

Resolution

When your Safari browser is loading slowly, or not at all, it is important to make sure that your cookie setting in Safari are set to accept cookies.

Here are a few reasons this could be happening:

  • The date on your computer is set incorrectly. Since cookies rely on dates, an incorrect date may "mislead" your browser into forgetting about your cookie. To fix this, set the correct time and date on your computer.
  • You have installed an application that monitors/blocks cookies from being sent. These include virus protection software, etc. To remedy this, disable the monitoring application before signing in.
  • You are behind a firewall that doesn't allow you to receive cookies. This is sometimes the case for users connecting from a business intranet that limits cookie acceptance for security reasons. To check if this is a factor, contact your System's Administrator.
  • Your browser is not set to accept cookies. Most browsers have the option of either accepting all cookies, showing an alert before accepting a cookie, or not accepting cookies at all. Below are the setting instructions for Safari. When making these adjustments, be sure to confirm any changes you make by clicking OK.

Safari Cookie Settings:

  1. Select the Safari | Preferences.
  2. Click Security.
  3. Next to Accept Cookies, select either Always or Only from sites you navigate to.

If your Cookie settings were already enabled, clearing your Cache and Cookies may resolve the issue.

To clear your Cache and Cookies:

  1. Select the Safari menu.
  2. Select Empty Cache and when prompted, click Empty
  3. Select the Safari Preferences
  4. Select the Security Tab.
  5. Click Show Cookies
  6. Click the Remove All button to remove all cookies.

Disable Add-Ons/Plug-Ins:

Each Internet browser comes with optional upgrades or enhancements commonly known as "add-ons" or "plug-ins." These features make your Internet browser more useful & certain add-ons or plug-ins can potentially cause issues with Yahoo! Mail.

To find out if this is the case, please try one of the following tasks for your specific browser: Common uses include (but aren't limited to) Toolbars; News or Stock Tickers; Instant Messaging; Weather alerts; Email alerts; Antivirus/Antispy; and/or Games.

  1. Select Safari | Preferences
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. Deselect Enable Plug-Ins
  4. Click OK
  5. Close and relaunch Safari.

Once you've successfully disabled your Internet browser's add-ons or plug-ins, try accessing your Yahoo! Mail account again and compose, reply, or forward a message. If the steps above fix the problem, this will confirm that an add-on or plug-in in your Internet browser is the culprit causing behind the problem

Yahoo! recommends the latest version of Safari for optimal use of our products.

The Safari browser can be found at Apple's download site.
