How to make your profile information display on your group's pages

ID: SLN2583
Refers to: Groups

Description

This article explains how you can adjust your profile information to be seen in Yahoo! Groups using Yahoo! Profile settings to:

  • Make it possible to find your profile information through a search
  • Make your profile not hidden

Resolution

If your profile information doesn't display on your group's member page or elsewhere in your group's pages, this is because of the settings that are selected on your Yahoo! Profile. This includes your name, location, gender, and profile picture.

If you have not edited your Yahoo! Profile:

  • By default, no personal information will display on your group's pages.
  • We take our members' privacy seriously, so our policy is to hide your information unless you indicate you would like to share it.

If are unable to see your profile information in the group and would like to have it display, you will need to make your Yahoo! Profile both searchable and unhidden.

How to control whether your profile information is made public:

  1. Sign in to Yahoo! Profile.
  2. Click on the pencil icon next to "Privacy."
  3. Slide the box labeled, Your profile is currently visible to left. You will be able to tell that your profile will be private because the box should now be labeled, "Your profile is currently hidden."

Others can now view your Yahoo! Profile pages and any information you want to share.

If you previously made it private and would like to make it public again follow these steps:

  1. After signing in, go to Settings.
  2. Click on the pencil icon next to "Privacy."
  3. Slide the box labeled, Your profile is currently hidden to the right. You will be able to tell that your profile will be public because the box should now be labeled, "Your profile is currently visible."

Once you have made your profile both unhidden and searchable, your profile information should appear next to your member name on the Members page.

Note: There may be a short delay between the time when you make the update and when your information appears.
