ID: SLN2509
Refers to: Groups

Description

Learn about each of the email delivery options available for Yahoo! Groups subscriptions, and how to change these options.

Resolution

For each group you belong to, you have the option to control both the frequency of email message delivery and the format of messages:

Frequency Options

  • Individual Emails
Messages are delivered one at a time to your email inbox. Email attachments, if included in a message and allowed by your moderator, will be sent directly to you. Best option if you need to keep up with the latest posts immediately.
  • Daily Digest
Messages are delivered in batches of 15 or daily, whichever comes sooner. Email attachments are not available in digests. Best option if you want fewer email messages or don't need up-to-the posts updates.
  • No Email (Web Only)
Messages are only available to read on the web. Keep in mind, some groups may disable the "message archive" feature, meaning it is not possible to read messages on the web in those groups. Message archive options are determined by group moderators. Useful if you need to temporarily put message delivery on hold, for example while you’re on vacation
  • Special Notices
Similar to "No Email" in that you won’t receive normal group messages. You will receive "Special Notices" sent by the group's moderator. Best option if you want to pass on day-to-day discussion in busy groups, but also want to receive important updates from the group moderator. Keep in mind, some moderators may not utilize the "Special Notices" feature, meaning that you would never receive email messages.

To customize your frequency options:

  1. Select My Groups in the upper-right corner of any Yahoo! Groups page.
  2. Select Edit My Groups, above your list of group subscriptions.
  3. Select your desired option using the pull down menus under "Message Delivery."
  4. Select Save Changes.

Format Options

  • Fully Featured
Includes links with instant access to all group features (photos, calendar, polls, files, etc.), the ability to see all messages in a topic, and a "recent activity module" providing information on new activity in the group over the last seven days. Best option for groups that use more than just the message features or groups where you want to take advantage of the message archive.
  • Traditional
Emails are delivered "as is," without the addition of any links to the group, except in the footer of the email. Best option if your email client doesn’t effectively support the "Fully Featured" format.

To customize your format options:

  1. Select Edit Membership at the top of the group's "Home" page.
Note: You must be signed in with your Yahoo! ID in order to access your preferences.
  2. Select your preferred option under Step 3.
  3. Select Save Changes.

Note: Changes to your email delivery options may take up to 24 hours to become effective.
