Unable to post photos
Description
This article provides several reasons one may not be able to upload photos to a group. Includes information on why photos posted to a group may not appear in the group.
Resolution
If you are having problem posting photos, the issue is usually caused by one of four factors:
- You are not logged in or not being recognized as a member of the group.
- You do not have permission to post photos to the group.
- You are trying to upload too many photos at once, photos that are too big, or photos of the wrong type.
- Your photos are not being approved by the moderator of the group.
For more details on each of these scenarios, and how to troubleshoot them, please see the information below.
1. You are not logged in or not being recognized as a member of the group.
If you see a “Photos” link in the left hand navigation but the link is not clickable, it means one of two things:
- You are not logged in. To login, simply click Sign In in the upper left corner of the page.
- You are logged in but are not being recognized as a member of the group. You will know this is the case if you see a Join This Group button on the group's homepage.
There are two possible reasons that you are not being recognized as a member:
- You’re currently an “email only” member of the group or that you’re a member of the group with a different Yahoo! ID. Either way, you can use the Membership Wizard to become a full web access member.
You simply aren’t yet a member of the group (or perhaps intentionally or unintentionally had your membership removed). You have to be a member to be able to post photos to a group. To become a member, click the Join this Group button.
2. You do not have permission to post photos to the group.
If you do not see a “Photos” link in the left hand bar or you can get to the Photos section of the group but there is no “Add Photos” link, it means that you do not have permission to post to the group. This is because the moderator(s) of the group have decided not to give group members permission to add photos.
If this is the case, you will have to contact the moderators of the group to ask them to change the settings by sending email to GROUPNAME-owner@yahoogroups.com (replacing “GROUPNAME” with the actual name of the group).
3. You are trying to upload too many photos at once, photos that are too big, or photos of the wrong type.
You are limited to uploading 100 photos at a time, no photo can be bigger than 10MB, and photos must be in JPEG, GIF, BMP or PNG formats.
4. Your photos are not being approved by the moderator of the group.
If you are able to successfully upload photos but they are they never appearing in the Photos area, the problem may be that the moderator of the group is moderating photos and rejecting your submissions. You will know if your posts require moderation before being posted if after uploading you click the “View Your Photos” button and see a message that reads “Your photos are waiting for approval.”
If the moderator if the group is not approving your photos, you can contact them to ask why by sending email to GROUPNAME-owner@yahoogroups.com (replacing “GROUPNAME” with the actual name of the group). But keep in mind that moderators have complete discretion over what photos they choose to approve. Yahoo! cannot contact them on your behalf to ask them to approve your photos.
