Creating an alias to hide your Yahoo! ID

ID: SLN2445
Refers to: Groups

Description

This article describes how to create an alias in your account to hide your Yahoo! ID from other members of your group and includes how to assign your alias to the group.

Resolution

If you would like to hide your Yahoo! ID from other members of your group, you set up an alias within Yahoo! Profile. This will allow you to control which information in your profile that other users see, while still keeping the settings the same for your usual Yahoo! ID. To set up an alias and add it to your group, please follow the steps below:

  1. Go to your account's Identity Management page.
  2. Click Add an Alias. A text box will appear where you can enter your desired Alias. Enter your desired Alias and click Save directly to the right. If your Alias is available, it will appear automatically as an Alias. If the Alias is already in use, you'll receive a message that says, "This alias is not available. Please try entering another."
  3. Click Close to return to your Account Information page.
  4. To select the new alias for your Yahoo! Group, go to your Edit My Groups page. Then select the new alias from the pull-down menu under "Yahoo! Profiles" and click Save Changes.
