This article provides steps for an owner to transfer ownership of their group to another owner so they can leave the group.

If you’re the group owner, you must first appoint another owner before you can leave the group. This policy is enforced so that groups are not left without an owner.

To make another member the group owner:

1. Go to the Members area of your group
2. Click the Edit Membership link next to the member you want to promote.
3. Click the Change to Owner link.
4. Confirm your change by clicking the Make Owner button.

If you wish, you can leave the group at this time.

Transferring ownership to another member of the group will relieve you of all of your moderator privileges. If you would like to remain a moderator of the group, the new owner will need to return these privileges to your email address.

If you choose not to transition your group to another owner, you may delete the group entirely.
