Learn why, when attempting to join a Yahoo!7 group while signed in with a Facebook or Google account, you receive the error message "You must first create a Yahoo! Profile."

In order to access Yahoo!7 Groups with a Google or Facebook account, you must have a Yahoo! Profile associated with your account.

To create a Yahoo! Profile and join a group:

1. Access the group you want to join and select Join This Group!
2. Select Sign in with Facebook or Sign in with Google.
3. Enter your login credentials, then sign in to that account.
   Note: When signing in with Google, you may see a "Yahoo!7 is asking for some information from your Google Account" window. Select Allow in this window. Enter your birth date on the following screen, then select Continue.
4. Click Create new profile.
5. Verify your account by selecting either Sign in with Facebook or Sign in with Google.
6. Select Add an alias.
7. Enter your alias.
8. Select Save.
9. Select Close.
   -The "Select a Yahoo! Profile" page opens
10. Select Continue.
    -A "Congratulations" page opens
11. Select View [Group name].
12. Select Join This Group! to request membership.

If you continue to experience difficulty joining the group, try to join after signing in with a Yahoo!7 ID and password rather than Facebook or Google. If you don't have a Yahoo!7 ID, you can sign up for one here. 

Alternatively, you can join the email list of the group by sending a blank email (from the email address you wish to subscribe) to groupname-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

Note: Replace groupname with the name of the group you would like to join.

To process your subscription request, respond to the confirmation email that you received. Once completed, Yahoo!7 Groups will send an email that includes a welcome message from the group's owner. You will then be a member of the group.
