Description

Learn about the tools Yahoo! offers for avoiding profane language and abusive users on Yahoo! Finance Message Boards.

Resolution

Message Boards offers several tools and settings intended to assist you in creating the best experience possible.

Below are list the features that can be useful for situations:

  1. Ignore - This command can be used whenever someone is harassing you or saying something you'd rather not see. If the person is being disruptive to the whole group, please remind everyone else to use the ignore command as well.

To add a user to your personal ignore list while viewing a message:

    • Select the Ignore this User link located on each message page above and below the message text. At the top of the next page, you will see a message confirming the user you added to your Ignore list.
  1. Profanity filter - With this feature, you are able to block commonly-used profanity from being visible to you.

To set up or adjust your profanity filters:

    • Select the Message Boards Settings link located in the upper-right corner of each page within Message Boards.
    • Choose if you'd like your profanity filter On or Off; and adjust any other filter features to your preference.
  1. Ratings - Each message board posting has the potential to receive a quality rating from 1 to 5 stars. These star ratings allow users to easily identify quality posts. With ratings, you also have the ability to set the minimum rating you're willing to see within the boards.

    To set this:

    • Locate the discussion you'd like to read.
    • Select the minimum star ratings you'd like to be visible to you from the pull-down menu.
