How to troubleshoot problems with streaming quotes

This article provides troubleshooting for handling issues with Streaming Quotes, including quote delays, freezing, and slow updates.
Resolution
If you data streaming isn't working normally, here are few steps that often resolve the problem:
- Check the system requirements. Particularly make sure you have the correct browser type and version. Also, make sure you have updated versions of Java and Flash player.
- Make sure you are on a broadband connection such as T1, cable, Wi-Fi, or FiOS. Streaming was not designed to work with dial-up or ISDN Internet connections.
- Temporarily disable your anti-virus or security software to see if the issue goes away. Sometimes, these types of software can interfere with streaming. Streaming is usually slowed if data is streaming while your computer is doing a security scan or update.
- Streaming is usually slowed if you try to stream data while your computer is doing a security scan or update.
- Be sure that streaming is turned on. You can turn streaming quotes on or off from either the upper right corner of quote pages on Yahoo! Finance, or the upper right of your portfolios.
- In order for your streaming quotes setting to be "remembered" in your browser, you will need to have your browser's cookies enabled.
- In the upper-right corner of quote pages on Yahoo! Finance, or any of your portfolio pages, just below the "Web Search" button is the Streaming quotes feature, whose default setting is ON. To turn off this feature, click the ON link (which then changes to OFF); to turn it on again, click the OFF link.
Note: Streaming quotes stops updating if the display window is inactive for more than 25 minutes.
Streaming response may also vary due to a variety of other factors, which includes trading volumes, market conditions, and system performance.
