This article walks through the steps to reinstall Java.
Resolution
Sometimes we notice that data, such as Streaming quotes, TickerTape, Portfolios, and Market Tracker does not display properly. We suspect that this may be happening because of an issue with java. We would like to begin troubleshooting by having you uninstall and then reinstall java.
These steps will help you completely remove Java from your PC and then reinstall it.:
Uninstalling Java Components:
- Close any open programs you may have running, especially your Web browser.
- Click Start | Control Panel (Note: Depending on your OS or configuration, you may have to click Start | Settings | Control Panel)
- Click Add or Remove Programs (In Windows Vista, simply Programs.)
- Click once on any item listing Java Runtime Environment in the name. (Not every version of Java will begin with "Java," so be sure to read each entry in the list.)
- You should see: J2SE Runtime Environment listed, uninstall this as well
- Click Remove or Change/Remove (Follow this step as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.)
- Reboot your PC once all Java components have been removed.
- Proceed with reinstalling Java
Reinstalling Java Components:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Go to "http://www.java.com/en/"
- Click Get It Now. (The installer should begin automatically. If it does not, click Manual Download.)
- Follow the prompts to install Java, agreeing with the license and selecting a typical install.
