Why can't I register for this Yahoo! ID?

ID: SLN3015
Refers to: Yahoo! Account

Description

This article describes what characters and guidelines should be followed when registering a Yahoo! ID.

Resolution

If you are having trouble or are encountering errors registering for a Yahoo! ID, please use these guidelines to determine if your ID of choice may be outside the Yahoo! registration policy.

New Yahoo! IDs can not contain any special characters except for:

  • The underscore (_) symbol
  • A single dot (.)

Note: At least four characters need to be added after using a single dot (.) and one character needs to be added before and after a (_) symbol.

If you are trying to register an account with any characters other than lower-case letters, numbers, the underscore, or a single dot, our system will not allow these. Please try signing up for a different Yahoo! ID.

Additionally, there are certain email addresses that are currently not allowed for registration. We restrict these particular email addresses because they are commonly used by spammers or are in violation of our Terms of Service. The email addresses that are restricted includes but are not limited to the following: Admin, Root, Abuse, Support, Info, Help, Sales, Majordomo, Postmaster, Webmaster, Listserv, Listmanager, Mailer, Mdomo, Nobody, Mailer-deamon.

This policy is to ensure a high quality of service for all of our users.

If you are still unable to complete your registration, please click Contact Yahoo! in the lower-right section of this page for further assistance.
