What is an extra email address and how do I set one up?

An extra email address is a second Yahoo! Mail address that you can use with your existing Yahoo! account. It's not a separate Yahoo! ID or account. You can use both your primary and extra mail address to send and receive messages within the sameaccount.

To create an extra email address:

1. Sign in to Yahoo! Mail.
2. Click the gear icon () in the upper-right corner of the window, and select Mail Options from the menu that appears. (In Mail Classic, select Options | Mail Options.)
3. In the left column, select Mail Accounts.
   (Or Accounts in Mail Classic.)
4. At the right, go to the "Additional Email Address" section.
   (Or the "Get the Email Address You've Always Wanted" section in Mail Classic.)
5. Click Create an extra email address.
6. Type in the email address you would like to have, and then click Check Availability.
7. Once you have an available address click Choose, you will be prompted to enter a code displayed on the page.

How to use your extra email address:

You can use your extra address exactly as you would your primary address. You can use it to:

• Sign in to your Yahoo! account.
• Send emails from this address.
• Receive emails sent to this address.

How to set an extra email address as your default email address:

1. Click the gear icon () in the upper-right corner of the window, and select Mail Options from the menu that appears. (In Mail Classic, select Options | Mail Options.)
2. In the left column, select Mail Accounts, and then Yahoo! Mail Extra Address.
   (Or select Accounts, and then Yahoo! Mail Extra Address in Mail Classic.)
3. Check the box next to Default sending account.
4. Click Save.

Other information about extra email addresses:

• You can only use one extra mail address at a time. To help prevent spamming, an extra address can only be changed twice in one year.
• When you create an extra mail address, it appears in the list of Yahoo! Mail accounts shown on the Mail Options information about additional Mail accounts.
  - If you have already made an alias within the last six months, this feature will not be available on this page.

• If you want to delete your extra email address, follow the instructions for your version of Yahoo! Mail:
