This article offers steps you can take if you are concerned that your account has been broken into by someone who may know your account information, and may have accessed your account.

This could be: 

• Someone who may know you
• Someone that knows your security information
• Someone that knows your password

If you believe your Yahoo! account has been accessed by someone else without your permission, immediately change your password and then use the "Login Activity" feature to check for suspicious activity.

To change your password when you still have access to your account:

1. Go to  Yahoo! Account Info.
2. Select Change your password.

To reset your password if you do not have access to your account:

1.   Go to the Yahoo! Password Helper.
2.   Select My account may have been compromised.
3.   Follow the onscreen verification steps.

After verification, a reset password will be sent to the email account on file.

If you are unable to access your account, you can contact Yahoo! Customer Care. Any detail you can provide in this case will help. For example:

• If you responded to an email asking for your Yahoo! ID or password, please include as much information as possible regarding the email you received.
• If you believe your password was collected from a website that was not an official Yahoo! website, please include the full address of the site you saw collecting passwords.

Note: If you supplied credit card or bank account numbers to an unverified website or in an email message, you should immediately report this to your financial institutions.
