Description

Explanation and how to use the Recent Login Activity feature of Yahoo! Account. Recent Login Activity shows several days of account sign-in activity. Use Recent Login Activity if you are suspicious that an unauthorized person may have broken into your account.

Resolution

Yahoo! created the "Recent Login Activity" page to help our customers see key information about each sign in to their Yahoo! account. The page shows several days of sign-in activities including the dates, how it was accessed, and the locations. With this page you can see if your account has been accessed by an unauthorized person.

To access the Recent Login Activity page:

  1. Go to the Yahoo! Account Information page.
    - Sign in to your account if prompted.
  2. Under "Sign-In and Security," select View your recent sign-in activity.
    - The "Yahoo! Account Info" page opens to the "Recent Login Activity" information.
    - It displays a login activity table with several categories of sign-in activity information on your account covering several days.
  3. To expand the list, select View More.

Brief description of login activity table information:

  • Date/Time: The date and time the account was accessed.
  • Access Type: The method of access such as a browser, mobile device, or a Yahoo! product like Yahoo! Messenger.
    - To learn more, see our help article about Access Types and Events.
  • Event: Which Yahoo! services were used (Mail, Frontpage, etc.).
  • Location/IP Address: Select either Location (default selection) or IP Address from this menu.
    - Location: The Country and State/Province location of the computer used to sign in.
    - IP Address: The IP (Internet Protocol) Address location of the computer used to sign in.

      1. Did you access your Mail on Sept 10, 2012?
      2. Shows access from browser, not mobile phone
      3. Did you recently log in from Nebraska?

How to detect signs of suspicious activity:

  • Look for activity that doesn't match how you normally use Yahoo!.
-Seeing multiple geographic locations: When you normally only access Yahoo! from just one or two computers.
-The Access type shows a mobile device: When you never use a mobile device to access your account.
