Can my Yahoo! ID have an "@" sign in it?

ID: SLN2060
Refers to: Yahoo! Account

Description

This article describes the different user ID types and what is, and is not, allowed in user IDs.

Resolution

Yahoo! user IDs cannot have an "@" sign in them except as a designator between the first part (username) and the domain name.

Yahoo! has three different user ID types:

  • Yahoo! ID (<username> or <username>@yahoo.com)
  • Rocketmail (<username>@rocketmail.com)
  • Ymail (<username>@ymail.com)

For example, the following user IDs are not allowed as Yahoo! ID:

  • m@x
  • m@x@yahoo.com
  • m@x@rocketmail.com

However, the following user IDs are allowed as Yahoo! ID:

  • max@yahoo.com
  • max@rocketmail.com
  • max@ymail.com

Additional Information

If you register for a ymail.com or a new rocketmail.com account, your Yahoo! ID is your full email address. However, if you register for a yahoo.com account, all that is required is your user name. The domain information is not necessary.
