Why am I being asked to update my account information?

Educates why a user may face an update account information screen during login.


Resolution

Because we value the privacy and security of your Yahoo! Account we have taken measures to insure the security of it:

  • Adding two new Questions and Answers: This will help to move you along the password recovery flow should you require assistance with your account.
  • Adding a contact email address: Should there be an issue with your account, such as forgetting your password, you can be easily verified when adding this to your current account.
  • Adding a mobile number: This will alert you to any changes made to your account, such as a change in password. You can also recover your password via SMS text should you need it. This helps to keep you informed so that unauthorized changes do not happen.

Keeping the most up-to-date information regarding your account helps to keep it as secure as possible. Adding a contact email or mobile number is a recommendation but not a requirement.
