Resolution
Adding an alternate email address and/or mobile number protects your Yahoo!7 account by providing Yahoo!7 with a verified way to communicate with you.
An alternate email address helps with these issues:
- We can easily verify it for you: If you forget your password or your account becomes compromised, a "reset password" link can be sent to your alternate email address, or an SMS message to your mobile number.
- This allows us verify that the reset password request comes from you, and not a third party. - We can communicate with you: If we need to communicate with you regarding updates to Yahoo!7 and changes to your account (e.g., password changes).
To add/change an alternate email address/mobile number:
- Sign in on your Account Information page.
- Under "Sign-In and Security", select Update Password Reset Information.
- Locate "Email Addresses" or "Mobile Numbers" and select Add Another.
- Click Save and Done.
You also have the option of changing your primary contact email address. This is the address that we use to send you notifications of account changes.
To add/change your primary alternate email address:
- Sign in on your Account Information page.
- Under "Contact Information," select Change next to the Primary Yahoo!7 email address.
- Select the email address which you would like to use as your primary email address.
- Select Save.
Verify your alternate email address to make it easier for us to help you in the future:
- Take a moment to verify your alternate email address/mobile number, as some areas of Yahoo!7 require it.
- If an email address/mobile number is marked as "unverified" in your account information page, it means that you still need to respond to the verification email Yahoo!7 sent to that email address, or to the SMS message sent to your mobile phone.
- If you are not receiving your verification code via email or SMS message, you may need to check some additional troubleshooting options.
