Yahoo! Accounts Team asking you to add your mobile number

Resolution

Our Yahoo! Account team recently sent emails to customers asking everyone to add a mobile phone number to their account. If your account doesn’t have a mobile phone number on it, then you received the email - which was from us.

Be assured that this email did come from our Yahoo! Account team, as they are educating all of our users about the benefits of this feature. By adding a mobile number to your account,  we'll be able to help you get back into your account quickly if you forget your password or if you become locked out for any reason.

If you haven’t already done so, please add your mobile number now  – it could save you a lot of time and frustration later. We'll keep it secure and only text you if you need help getting back into your account.

You can always tell if an email is truly coming from Yahoo! by looking to the left of the sender address in your inbox. Any email that we send to you will always have our purple "Y!" icon next to it. Below are some examples:

Special icon in Yahoo! Mail indicating the email is from Yahoo!

Note: The icon will not appear in Outlook, Mac Mail or other email clients. If you are not sure, simply log into your Yahoo! Mail account online and look for the purple "Y!" icon to the left in your inbox.
