Password recovery on a mobile device


Resolution

To recover your Yahoo! account password:

  1. On the sign in page, tap I can't access my account.
  2. Tap Reset my password.
  3. In the search field, enter your Yahoo! ID, then tap Next
  4. Tap either mobile number, alternate email address, or answer secret questions to continue.
  • When recovering with a mobile phone number:
    You will receive an SMS text message via the mobile number associated with your Yahoo! ID.
  1. Open the SMS text message and review the 5 digit code.
  2. Enter the 5 digit code into the "Text Sent" screen.
  3. Tap OK.
  4. On the page that opens, enter a new password.
  • When recovering with an alternate email address:
    You will receive an email via the alternate email address associated with your Yahoo! ID.
    Note: If you have more that one alternate email address on file, you will need to select which email address you'd like to use.
  1. Go to the inbox for your alternate email address and look for an email from Yahoo!.
  2. Open the email, read the instructions, then click the link.
  3. On the page that opens, enter a new password. 
  • When recovering by answering secret questions:
    You will be directed to a page which asks one of the security questions you listed when you created your Yahoo! ID.
  1. Answer the first security question, then tap Next.
  2. Answer the second security question, then tap Next.
  3. On the page that opens, enter a new password.

Note: If your Yahoo! ID does not have a mobile number or alternate email address associated with it, or you do not know the answers to your secret questions, you will need to contact us in order to proceed with recovery.


Additional Information

For your security, be sure to enter a strong password.
