Using the Edit Draft Order & Assign Keeper Players tool

Description

This article explains that the Assign Keeper tool is used through the Edit Draft Order and Assign Keepers section of the commish tools. After the manager has chosen their keepers, and the commissioner has approved them, they must be assigned.

Resolution

The Edit Draft Order & Assign Keeper Players tool is used to set both draft order and to assign keepers. In order to activate this tool, you must finalize the team list for your league.

To use the tool:

  1. Commissioners should log into their fantasy league.
  2. Click the Commish Tools tab.
  3. In the "Keeper Management" section, click the Edit Draft Order & Assign Keeper Players link. This is a pre-draft action and cannot be done after the draft.
  4. On the "Edit Draft Order & Assign Keeper Players" page, draft pick options are:
    • Random Order, Snaking (Standard)
      • Set order 30 minutes before draft
      • Randomize order now (a league transaction will be published each time this option is selected)
    • Custom Order and Keeper League Players
      • If you had traded draft picks in your league the previous season, you also would enable the importing of these trades into the draft order at this time.

If "Random order 30 minutes before draft" is chosen, you will see no change until 30 minutes before the draft. The order will be set by the system and at the appointed draft time, the draft will start with the system picks.

Note: If you choose to have a random order, you will not be able to assign keepers in your league.

If you choose the "Custom Order and Keeper League Players" option, you'll be shown the Custom Order section.

Set Basic Order

  1. In Step 1 of 2, you can choose:
    • To adjust the order a manager gets to pick by dragging and dropping the team.
    • To use a Snaking or Non-Snaking draft order.
      • In snaking drafts (standard), the pick order reverses each round. So, the team with the first pick in odd-numbered rounds gets the last pick in even rounds. Non-snaking drafts don't reverse, so the same team gets the first pick in every round.
    • To automatically enter keepers into the opening or final rounds of your draft, or to assign them in a custom manner manually.
  2. Click the Continue button to assign keepers and adjust your draft order manually, OR click the Done button to save your custom order and bypass keepers.
  3. If you clicked the Continue button, you'll be shown the Assign Keepers page.

If you need to adjust your draft order to account for an offseason trade, you can adjust any round on the Assign Keepers page using the pull-down menus. Select the draft round, and then assign the team(s) to a corresponding pick in that round.

To manually assign a keeper to a team:

  1. Choose the round you want the player assigned.
  2. Highlight the player you want to assign and click the right arrow button. The team picker will then move to the next team to pick and the "Pick Counter" below will update to show you the number of keepers assigned to each team, and the number of draft picks they have.
  3. You can click Save Progress at any time to save all work done to that point.
  4. When you're finished assigning keeper players, click the Submit button.

Make sure you set your league to Ready. This draft order will be used with keeper players pre-assigned on draft day.

If at any time, you need to go back to Step 1 of the tool, click Reset All. Confirm this by clicking OK in the popup to start over with the tool.

Please note the following:

  • Keeper players will not display on team pages until after the draft is completed. Owners can see keeper assignments on the Rosters page under the "League" tab, or on the Draft Results page under the "Draft Central" tab.
  • Keeper players will automatically be selected into the draft slot assigned to them during the live draft and will not be offered in the available player list.
  • If you use an odd number of keepers in your league, you will need to reverse the draft order. This will allow the team with the first overall pick to make the first selection when new players are drafted.
  • It's possible for commissioners to enter in a different amount of keepers for teams. The teams that have more keeper players entered will have fewer draft picks during the live draft, and vice versa.
