This article explains what happens when a player is placed on waivers, how long they last, who can claim them, and how claims work.

All players dropped from a team's roster are immediately placed on waivers. During this waiver period (two days in Public Leagues and anywhere from zero to seven days in Custom Leagues), anyone in the league can claim the player except for the manager who dropped the player.

Note: If a manager adds a free agent and drops that player on the same day, that player will not be placed on waivers and, instead, will remain a free agent. This prevents managers from locking crucial free agents on waivers so other managers cannot add them.

For example: If a player is dropped in a Public League on Wednesday afternoon, all managers can put in a waiver claim until the deadline on Friday at 11:59:59 p.m., PT. The player will then be assigned to their new team, generally within four to eight hours after the claim deadline.

Waiver claims are processed according to the waiver claim priority list and are not processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

In live or autopick draft leagues, initial waiver priority is determined by the reverse order of the draft.

In offline draft leagues, initial waiver priority is determined by the reverse order in which teams registered for the league. However, if the commissioner chooses to customize the draft order prior to entering offline draft results, the initial waiver priority list will become the reverse of this draft order.

Note: The length of the waiver period used in your league will not equal the length of time it takes players to reach their new rosters. In leagues utilizing a two-day waiver period and "Daily - Tomorrow" roster changes, a waiver claim will be processed as listed below. In this example, a player is dropped on Monday.

Monday (anytime): Player is dropped and appears on waivers.

Tuesday - Wednesday (all day): 2-day waiver period.

Thursday (early morning): Waiver claim processed.

Friday: Player eligible on their new roster.

You may adjust this process accordingly if your league uses a 1-day, 3-day, etc. review period.

If more than one team claims the same player, the team that is highest on the Waiver Priority List is given the rights to the player. The priority list is initially set based on the reverse of the draft order. However, each time you add a waived player to your roster, you are moved to the bottom of the list. This "rolling" list stays in effect for the entire season.

If you are viewing the priority list after a player has been processed, the team ranked last on the waiver priority list will be the team that was most recently awarded a player via waivers. The current list does not reflect the priority that was in place when waivers were processed.

Your current waiver ranking will be displayed along with the league standings in the "waiver" column. The team ranked No. 1 on the list has the highest (or best) waiver priority.

If nobody claims a player during the waiver period, he becomes a free agent. In a Private League with no waiver period, all dropped players automatically become free agents.

If you place a player on waivers, he is dropped from your team. If you wish to reclaim him, you will have to wait for him to clear waivers.

Exception: If your league uses FAAB waivers, you may attempt to place the highest bid on the player in an attempt to reclaim him.

If you place a claim on more than one waived player at a time, each pending transaction will appear on your Team Page along with its current position in your waiver order. Claims are listed in chronological order of when the player clears waivers. If you have multiple claims that will clear on the same date, you can alter their priority by viewing each pending claim and changing its priority in the box provided.

Post-Draft Waiver Rules:

By default, players will follow the league's waiver rules when the draft has ended. However, Commissioners in Custom Leagues can opt to release all players to free agency. Managers can check this setting on their League Settings page.
