How to get the old sounds back
Description
This article describes how to recover the older Yahoo! Messenger sounds.
Resolution
- Download our zip file containing the old sound files.
- Open My Computer on your desktop, or Computer on your Start menu.
- Navigate to the following path:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Media
- Extract the contents of the zip file into the "Media" folder.
- Sign in to Yahoo! Messenger.
- Click Messenger menu | Preferences.
- Select the Alerts & Sounds category.
- Select an item under "Alert me when."
- Click the Browse button to select a sound file.
- Click Apply and OK.

- If you're running a 64-bit version of Windows, navigate to the following path instead:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Yahoo!\Messenger\Media
