When you're chatting with a friend, you can express feelings such as happiness or annoyance by using emoticons: little icons that represent different emotions.

Note: Yahoo! Messenger offers a wide variety of emoticons.  Some versions may offer additional hidden emoticons that may not be listed in the above pages.

To send the regular emoticons during an IM conversation:

• Type the component characters and press Enter.

or

• Click the smiley face icon in the Conversation window to choose an emoticon from the menu.

To send "hidden" emoticons during an IM conversation:

• Type the component characters or copy and paste them off the hidden emoticons webpage.
