Troubleshooting Yahoo! Mail in iOS Mail


Resolution

To troubleshoot errors and issues accessing Yahoo! Mail using iOS Mail on your iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad), follow the steps below in order:

Check the device's "Mail, Contacts, Calendar" settings
  1. On your device's Home screen, tap the Settings app
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap Yahoo! Mail.
  4. Under "Accounts," tap Yahoo!.
  5. Confirm that your account information has been entered correctly.
Check receiving mail to your device
  1. Tap your inbox's refresh icon.
  2. Confirm that new messages are being delivered to your inbox.
Check sending mail from your device
  1. Send a message using your device.
  2. Under "Mailboxes," tap Sent.
  3. Confirm that the message you attempting to send appears there.
Check the setting for getting new messages automatically
  1. Using your PC, send a message to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  2. Open iOS Mail on your device.
  3. Tap your inbox's refresh icon.
  4. Confirm that the message is being delivered.
    Note: Messages should be transferred instantly to your iOS device as it arrives at the Yahoo! server.
Check the setting that makes Yahoo! Mail your default email account
  1. On your device's Home screen, tap the Settings app.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Default Account.
  4. Tap Yahoo!.
Delete the Yahoo! Mail account in the device
  1. On your device's Home screen, tap the Settings app.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Under "Accounts," tap Yahoo!.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
Add the Yahoo! Mail account back to the device
  1. On your device's Home screen, tap the Settings app.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Under "Accounts," tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Yahoo!.
  5. Enter your name, Yahoo! Mail address, password, and account description.
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Tap Save.

If you are unable sign in to Yahoo! Mail on your device or on your PC, click I can’t access my account on the Yahoo! sign in page and follow the instructions.

If the above steps did not fully resolve your issue, try these additional steps:

Make sure that your device set fetch new data automatically:

  1. On your device's Home screen, tap the Settings app.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Fetch New Data.
  4. Toggle "Push" to ON.

Note: Changes you make to your device's email settings do not affect the web settings of your Yahoo! Mail account.
